TmaxTibero’s main product, ‘Tibero’, has ranked first in sales for eight consecutive years in the database management software (DBMS) category on the Public Procurement Service’s Digital Service Mall.
According to the 2023 sales performance data per item from the Public Procurement Information Open Portal on the 13th, Tibero recorded over a 30% market share of total sales in its category, making it the most in-demand product in the public market.
Lee Hee-sang, TmaxTibero CEO, stated, “Tibero not only provides high-level technology compared to foreign vendors and other open-source solutions, but also offers continuous technical support and cost efficiency, which are competitive advantages that have led to its increased application in public services. We plan to further increase our market share by leading the cloud-native transition in the public market.”
The overall data shows that public institutions still have a clear preference for commercial solutions over open-source solutions. This reflects the characteristics of the public market, where factors beyond product performance, such as security and technical support, are meticulously considered to ensure the stability of services.
A TmaxTibero representative added, “In reality, inquiries about switching back to Tibero due to issues like technical support and security after adopting open-source solutions are increasing.”
Meanwhile, Tibero, as a representative DBMS in the domestic public market, features its self-developed high-availability clustering technology. First in Korea and second in the world to develop this active-active clustering, TmaxTibero highlights Tibero Active Clustering (TAC) as a core function. With the increasing importance of uninterrupted service during digital transformation, this function has garnered significant interest in the market.
TmaxTibero has continued to maintain its market dominance in the public sector by securing references in various fields, such as the ‘eLearning Center’ of the Korea Education and Research Information Service, based on its proprietary technology and abundant technical support resources. Additionally, TmaxTibero has accelerated its public cloud market penetration by registering an upgraded version, ‘Tibero 7’, providing the exact performance both on cloud and on-premise, last year.
