TmaxTibero Powers Always-On Operations for the Overseas Korean Certification Center
- Enterprise-grade high availability technology ensures 24/7 seamless service
- Industry-leading technical support guarantees rapid incident response
TmaxTibero, a leading provider of database management systems (DBMS), announced that its flagship DBMS solution Tibero has been successfully deployed to support the Overseas Korean Certification Center, a key digital service operated by South Korea’s Office of Overseas Koreans.
The Overseas Korean Certification Center is a remote identity verification platform designed to improve online access to government services for Koreans living abroad. Developed through a multi-agency collaboration, the project brought together the Office of Overseas Koreans, the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Korea Communications Commission, the Presidential Committee on the Digital Platform Government, and five private-sector partners. By enabling seamless identity verification from anywhere in the world, the platform eliminates complex legacy authentication processes, giving overseas Koreans easier access to critical digital services in Korea.
To meet the demanding requirements for real-time data processing and seamless integration with external databases, including passport information managed by Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Office of Overseas Koreans needed a mission-critical database platform capable of ensuring uninterrupted service around the clock. After a comprehensive evaluation, Tibero was selected for its:
- Active-active clustering architecture that guarantees continuous uptime
- Proven rapid incident response system for immediate issue resolution
- Robust security framework to safeguard sensitive data
A representative from the Office of Overseas Koreans commented, “Tibero has been the trusted DBMS powering the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ consular services for years, and we have full confidence in its stability and technical support capabilities. With Tibero’s advanced clustering technology, we can confidently deliver uninterrupted service to Koreans around the world.”
At the core of Tibero’s reliability is Tibero Active Cluster (TAC), TmaxTibero’s proprietary active-active clustering technology. TAC automatically switches operations to a healthy node in the event of a failure, ensuring zero-downtime service continuity. Tibero is the only domestically-developed DBMS in Korea to offer this level of high availability, providing a technical architecture comparable to Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC). This technological leadership has made Tibero a top choice for Korea’s mission-critical systems.
Duk-Hoon Choi, CEO of NexoneSoft, the system integrator leading the project, shared, “We’ve deployed Tibero across numerous large-scale projects, and it has consistently delivered outstanding performance and stability. Thanks to TmaxTibero’s technical excellence, this project was another success. We look forward to deepening our partnership with TmaxTibero and delivering even greater value to our customers.”
Hee-Sang Lee, CEO of TmaxTibero, added, “Tibero’s adoption as the core infrastructure for this critical public service underscores the confidence Korea’s public sector has in our technology and support capabilities. Moving forward, we will continue to help public institutions and enterprises optimize their data environments with world-class DBMS technology and expert support.”
Building on this successful deployment, TmaxTibero plans to accelerate Tibero’s expansion into public sector, financial services, telecommunications, and other industries where high availability and performance are essential.
